Set along the prestigious Ramsgate Road, this Good Class Bungalow reimagines modern living through openness, sustainability, and quiet elegance. Conceived as an open house, the residence embraces natural ventilation and sunlight, weaving light and air into the fabric of everyday life. At its heart lies an internal garden courtyard – a serene retreat that passively cools the home while blurring the boundary between inside and out. Enhancing the original structure by sustainable construction materials, this elevated design reflects a harmonious balance of refinement and responsibility, where every detail is attuned to comfort, warmth, and timeless appeal.

The second-storey facade is wrapped in perforated timber panels that exude both warmth and sophistication. Their nature finish softens the geometry of the architecture, while the patterned openings filter sunlight, invite breezes, and maintain privacy. Beyond aesthetics, the cladding enhances acoustic comfort and improves thermal performance, creating a serene environment that is as functional as it is beautiful.

Inspired by the modern Scandinavian ethos of openness and simplicity, timber defines both floor and ceiling treatments across the main living level. With a soaring 3.3-metre stud height, the addition of timber draws the eye upward, accentuating volume while imparting a sense of warmth. The rich tones offset the crisp monochrome palette, creating balance and harmony. The ceilings, in particular, become an architectural feature – infusing the home with character and depth.

Light is considered as carefully as form. Vertical cove lights animate a long expanse of wall, subtly dividing it into refined panels. Whether dramatic or understated, the illumination enhances rhythm and proportion, underscoring the home’s modern sensibility while preserving an atmosphere of quiet elegance.
